چکیده
Abstract Precipitation is crucial for life and the ecological environment in Asian drylands. This study investigated precipitation trends drylands previous four decades simulated its possible linkage with snow cover reduction over Tibetan Plateau. Declining snow cover may affect spring phenological trend on the Tibetan Plateau.
Zhang et al. (1) report that the Tibetan Plateau experienced a continuous advancing start of green-up date (SOS) from 1982 to 2011 based on the merged Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies (GIMMS)based with Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) [Système Pour l’Observation de la Terre vegetation (SPOTVGT)]-based SOSs. It challenged the previous contention that plants over...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal Change of Snow Cover and Its Response to Climate over the Tibetan Plateau Based on an Improved Daily Cloud-Free Snow Cover Product
Using new, daily cloud-free snow-cover products, this study examines snow cover dynamics and their response to climate change. The results demonstrate that the daily cloud-free snow-cover products not only posses the advantages of the AMSR-E (unaffected by weather conditions) and MODIS (relatively higher resolution) products, but are also characterized by high snow and overall classification ac...
متن کاملPrecipitation impacts on vegetation spring phenology on the Tibetan Plateau.
The ongoing changes in vegetation spring phenology in temperate/cold regions are widely attributed to temperature. However, in arid/semiarid ecosystems, the correlation between spring temperature and phenology is much less clear. We test the hypothesis that precipitation plays an important role in the temperature dependency of phenology in arid/semiarid regions. We therefore investigated the in...
متن کاملFractional Snow-Cover Mapping Based on MODIS and UAV Data over the Tibetan Plateau
Moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) snow-cover products have relatively low accuracy over the Tibetan Plateau because of its complex terrain and shallow, fragmented snow cover. In this study, fractional snow-cover (FSC) mapping algorithms were developed using a linear regression model (LR), a linear spectral mixture analysis model (LSMA) and a back-propagation artificial neura...
متن کاملMODIS/Terra observed seasonal variations of snow cover over the Tibetan Plateau
[1] Seasonal variations of snow cover fraction (SFC) over the Tibet Plateau (TP) are examined using the data acquired from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra spacecraft. In this study, we first evaluate the accuracy of the MODIS high-resolution snow cover data by comparing the data with in-situ Chinese snow observations. Results show that overall accuracy of ...
